Hockey Albury Wodonga conveys its sincere condolences to the family

of Noel Waite on their recent loss, Noel was a life member of the YA’s and

Wombats hockey clubs. Noel until recently was a frequent visitor to

Alexander Park supporting the Spitfire and Wombat teams. We are

grateful for the contribution Noel made to the growth and enjoyment

of hockey in the region for over 50 years.

Our beautiful son Andrew passed away on Sunday morning, 7 November.  We are heartbroken.  A celebration of his wonderful life will be held Wednesday 17 November at 1.00 pm on the 4th fairway at the Maryborough Golf Club, Park Road, Maryborough, Vic.

We would like to thank everyone who has sent messages and we are sorry if we haven't responded to you all. Know that your kind thoughts and words are appreciated. 

 

The celebration of Andrew’s life will be live streamed at the Commercial Club Albury (Auditorium) for all those who can't attend the service at Maryborough.  To attend the Commercial Club you must be double vaccinated.  For those unable to attend, streaming details will follow here

Nominations are open for the following Board of Management Director positions:

  • Competitions
  • Umpiring
  • Athlete Development
  • Senior Representative Hockey.
  • Finance & Facilities,
  • Carnivals & Special Events, and
  • Marketing, Promotion & Media,

Nominations must be in by 1 November.

With the NSW & Victorian lock downs (stay at home), Hockey Albury Wodonga junior, senior & masters scheduled competitions will not resume until further notice. Further announcements will be sent to clubs and put on the HAW FaceBook page.

Twilight will run this year on a Tuesday night. 

Nominations are open and will close on Sunday 18 October.  We need a minimum of 8 teams for the competition to go ahead.  No late entries accepted.

If you are an individual and do not have a team, please let the office know and we will put you in touch with a team who needs players.

Twilight dates will be: 20-Oct, 27-Oct, 03-Nov, 10-Nov, 17-Nov, 24-Nov, 01-Dec & 08-Dec

The Hockey 8’s competition developed by Ross Maggs and his team in 2010 is an innovative end of season celebration of the sport offering an opportunity for experienced and emerging players to share experiences with fund raising for local charities and junior development. In the last ten years Hockey 8’s has raised over $70,000 for these two purposes.

Committee         given the time frame and work load a committee minimum of eight is required

Players               there is a need for 4 male and 4 female teams with 12 players per team (total of 96 players)

 

Proposed structure 

Week 1 (25 October)    Hockey 8’s round robin

Week 2 (1 November)  Hockey 8’s round robin

Week 3 (8November)   including

  1. Hockey 8’s finals
  2. Veterans two teams over 50 years
  3. Bendigo versus Albury (Andrew Maggs match)

Team selection, Captains and Coaches will be appointed by the committee two weeks before Week 1

Spitfires Player Auction

Come and fly with the Spitfires at their "Players Action" fundraiser night!

Our Guest Speaker for the evening is Iilish Ross who plays for Richmond in the AFLW!

Then bid for the "Magic group" of male/female players! If you think they'll be the Best & Fairest for the year with a consistent year, then bid ...and win the prize money. A % of the total raised on the night will go to the winners...the more bids, the more money that you can win!   There will also be a Silent auction 

Music will be at its best with the talented Spitfires Women GK Samantha Campbell and her 3 piece band! The Mia Grace trio!
